The 'Ravi' or Enraptured Man first appeared in the Provençal Nativity Scene in the early 1900's. He is portrayed as a simple and somewhat naive farm hand that raises his arms to heaven to express his amazement and happiness at the birth of Jesus. Santons stands approximately 8 inches (20-cm) tall.
Le Ravi ne figure pas dans les crèches provençales qu'au début du XIXe siècle. C'est un valet de ferme simple et un peu naïf qui lève ses bras au ciel pour exprimer son grand bonheur devant la naissance du Christ.
